Music has evolved though the centuries from the classical Renaissance to the ever-familiar sounds of Urban Jam, hip-hop, electronica and house music. Although the traditional turntable is still the preferred tool by both genres due to the cool factor, some companies vie to simplify the art of vinyl to something more contemporary. Denon seems to have risen to the challenge to reveal the Denon DN S3500 in 2005.

The second in the line of professional audio CD players, the Denon DN S3500, brings about a more familiar setting for the veteran spinner, incorporating a direct drive motor similar to most modern turntables. The jog dial can be used to scratch, search, scan for segments of any CD for sampling and playback and has a nice feel to it like a turntable with a 33 or 45 rpm setting. Fifteen-second audio sampling and continuous loop would definitely be a hit for most DJs, as it allows more imaginative ways to bring the best on what is already considered as perfect music. The CD front-feeder is a plus, eliminating the need to have a tray and the time it takes to load a disc in especially if the music is needed in quick succession. As for formats, the Denon DN S3500 allows audio and MP3 playback and can use CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs for those who want to compile their music in a few discs.

Although the Denon DN S3500 is not meant for the beginner DJ, it’s a good investment for those who are already in the big clubs.
